South African mines. Many Basotho men were retrenched and repatriated. Most of them were uneducated and unskilled. On returning home, they found that the skills and knowledge they had acquired at the mines were not relevant. This study sought to investigate the impact of the retrenchments on the attitudes of former mine workers towards education.
